Wellness Benefits of Working with Eden

Neural Knots. When we face hard things, even perceived hard things, our nervous systems respond to the issue itself, plus our emotions about the issue, plus our judgments about having the issue. That’s a lot of nervous system involvement! These reactions wire into our subconscious and affect our bodies, behavior, relationships, and stress levels.  Also, the subconscious mind has no sense of time, so even experiences from childhood can run in the background and impact us now.

How does EFT help? It unravels the knots. Tapping on specific acupuncture points while focusing on what’s troubling us unhooks our nervous system response from the issue so we can deal with it or let it go. EFT also addresses the ‘deal or let go’ piece by changing subconscious drivers that cause resistance, like childhood programming, limiting beliefs, or key memories. The techniques can address upsetting memories, difficult circumstances, recurring thoughts/feelings, physical issues and health, memory issues, pain, depression, cravings, traumatization, or feelings of anxiety. It can even work when you’re not sure what’s wrong.

PTSD & Me. EFT helped me heal from losing my home in the 2020 Almeda wildfire in a way EMDR and talk therapy couldn’t. I use it now for everything, on my own or with a practitioner. I even use it with my dog to support her health. It feels empowering to navigate life without substances, medications, or years of outside assistance – relief and knowledge are literally at my fingertips. As a practitioner, I use Clinical EFT which is not what you see on the internet, though its effectiveness does feel a bit mysterious.

If you want to find out how my approach might help you, please book a free 15-min “meet & greet” by Zoom. I would love to talk with you! While my new website and scheduler are under construction, please email me at edenmccarthylmt@gmail.com with any questions or to schedule.

Clinical benefits in detail. EFT...

  • Calms us down: EFT disconnects our body’s stress response from triggering events by soothing the amygdalae (stress centers of the brain), reducing cortisol, and stimulating the vagus nerve.
  • Updates our operating system: By using EFT to address deep-seated patterns, memories, and outdated subconscious beliefs, we respond to our current life feeling free and able to make better choices and take new actions.
  • Improves mental and physical well-being: Regular use of EFT often leads to improved clarity and health, reduced pain, better self-awareness, and enhanced performance.
  • Supports trauma processing: While effective for at-home use with everyday stress or body aches, using EFT for traumatic events or complex issues requires a trained practitioner.
  • Has longevity: Originally developed as TFT in 1980 by psychologist Roger Callahan, EFT was later refined and renamed in 1990 by his student Gary Craig.
  • Research-backed efficacy: 300+ studies suggest EFT has results comparable to, or even faster and longer-lasting than, traditional therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR.

Soft Launch Options for in-person and Zoom EFT sessions:

New Clients: Please book a free 15-min “meet & greet” via Zoom by emailing edenmccarthylmt@gmail.com. I want to chat with you about what you’re looking for and what your goals are, so I can make sure they’re within my scope of practice. I’ll email you a pdf with pricing information after we talk, and you can decide from there whether to schedule and which of the following two packages you’d like to start with. Single sessions can reveal deep issues you’d like to work with, but not enough time to explore or address them, so the minimum number of sessions when you start is three. Both packages below include tapping instruction, discovery, and goal setting.

Intro Package of 3 EFT sessions
Intro Package of 5 EFT sessions

For returning EFT clients, the following options are available: Please contact me for pricing.

Single sessions
Package of 3
Package of 5
Package of 10

TEMPORARY OPPORTUNITY: If you’re interested in being a practice client for the form of bodywork I’m studying that releases stored trauma, pain, and anxiety from the body, please let me know. This is meant as an adjunct to your EFT sessions. Clients wear comfortable clothing for the session – no oil or lotion is used, and there’s a long-distance guided imagery/energy version for Zoom clients. Practice sessions are by donation (cash or Venmo). No insurance billing or checks. Good for up to 3 sessions (I recommend more than one; it works like building blocks)

You are responsible for you. This is your journey. As an Accredited Clinical EFT Practitioner, Certified Coach, and Licensed Massage Therapist, I make every effort to provide you with safe, effective, and exemplary service. I am not a licensed counselor or psychologist, nor do I have a medical degree. If you already work with a mental or physical healthcare team, take medication, or use other treatments, EFT can complement your current course of treatment, but can change your body chemistry enough that dosage or frequency of medication may need to be adjusted. In this case, you must be in contact with your health or mental health practitioner about your use of EFT. It is currently being reviewed by the American Psychological Association as a treatment for PTSD and until approved is considered experimental.
